‘Eat mor chiken’ (and biscuits!)
Wake up with ‘Biscuits and Bingo’ at local Chick-fil-A
By Rebecca O’Dell, contributing writer

Any lucky JMU student who doesn’t have classes on Wednesday mornings now has something to do with the free time. JMU’s neighborhood Chick-fil-A, located on East Market Street, is now offering “Biscuits and Bingo” the last Wednesday of every month from 9 to 10 a.m.

Chick-fil-A restaurants, located nationwide, are given the choice to host a variety of community events. Melissa Ludholtz, general manager of the Harrisonburg restaurant, decided to host “Biscuits and Bingo.” Also, Chick-fil-A will soon be providing a morning program for parents or baby sitters to bring their children in for stories and crafts, entitled “Come and Play at Chick-fil-A!” Also included on the list of community events are “Spirit Nights,” fund-raisers every Tuesday or Thursday for local schools.

Hesitant about joining in on the “Biscuits and Bingo” fun? Have no worries. The majority of participants come to Chick-fil-A through Rockingham Memorial Hospital’s Senior Advantage program, although JMU students are sure to provide stiff Bingo competition and the regular contestants would definitely love to have the extra company. Each Bingo session averages around 25 participants.

“It’s really fun and you get a kick out of watching the senior citizens,” said Ludholtz.

The players buy their biscuits from Chick-fil-A’s wide menu selection of breakfast foods and Chick-fil-A happily provides the Bingo materials and prizes (which consist of items such as T-shirts, coupons and a current competitor favorite, aprons).  Senior citizens even get a free drink with their biscuit order.

So save sleeping in for the weekends and make sure to catch “Biscuits and Bingo” at Chick-fil-A.
