The Writing on the Wall: Tortured logic
It is most disturbing that President Bush requires “clarification” over Article Three of the Geneva Conventions in the first place. The article prohibits, and I quote, “(a) Violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture; (b) Taking of hostages; (c) Outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment; (d) The passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without pervious judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court, affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.” More... When the words “JMU campus” cross my mind, my next thoughts often turn to our immaculate Quad. Its sloping green surfaces, dotted with the fairer sex and the occasional game of Frisbee, stoke the feeling of community I associate with the JMU nation.
