I do not know what to make of global warming. But I do know we need to stop driving our cars as much as we do.
I am graduating this year and for the past four years, I have had to listen to students complain about JMU wasting their tuition money. These students think keeping the campus clean and nice is a waste of money while still thinking it’s OK to spend literally millions of dollars on a new parking deck.
I might be the minority here, but I think the new parking deck is a waste of money and an eyesore. I am not saying that we all need to turn into smelly, barefoot hippies, but it seems to me like it might be a good idea to at least start using the wonderful bus system or riding your bike.
Hey, a few million dollars can go a long way in reducing meal plans, improving dorms and facilities, or maybe funding to save all of the sports we just lost. So put your keys down and take a stroll across our wonderful campus.

There seems to be some confusion about the Green Fund. I would like to clear up some rumors. First, the Green Fund is on a trial basis for three years. It is not subject to an increase. After the three years, during which students will play major roles in the decisions of the Green Fund Committee, it will be re-evaluated.
Furthermore, this isn’t a bunch of liberal hippies trying to push their agendas. It’s a group of conservatives, liberals and moderates from business, outdoor and engineering clubs that just want JMU to have lower energy bills.
Most importantly, this is an issue that you finally have a say in. You get to decide if this is something that you want to invest in. If this referendum passes or doesn’t pass, the JMU student body is responsible for that result.
So let’s cease the name-calling and stereotyping. Get informed about the issue and make your decision, but don’t get mad at a group of clubs that just wants to rely a little less on coal.
