Fashion for a cause

Lights. Music. Fashion. The Future Fashion show took over Rocktown Bar and Grill Friday night for an evening of fashion, music and dance to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The event took in over $700 for the charity. The show was put together and produced by the student-run organization Blame It On the Train, with the help of the JMU Fashion Design Club.  Together they transformed Rocktown Bar and Grill into an elaborate fashion set with a runway and stage for the models and band. Virginia indie band returns to the ’Burg

Take honest lyrics, powerful guitar solos, intense vocals and unpredictable rhythms and you’ve got Far-Less, an indie band based out of Virginia. The band consists of Jordan Powers (vocals and guitar), Elizabeth “Bitsy” Pina (keys), Brandon Welch (lead vocals and guitar), Todd Turner (drums), Joseph Powers (bass) and Mark Karsten (guitar). Local, international bands to put on a show at Festival tomorrow

It is a common myth on the JMU campus that there is nothing exciting or affordable to do in Harrisonburg. Tomorrow’s WXJM-sponsored show at Festival Conference and Student Center further proves how inaccurate that assumption is. Not only will the 8:30 p.m. concert be free, easy to get to and provide a root beer keg, but five bands traveling from as close as Main Street to as far as the Netherlands will be entertaining audiences with the type of energy only hardcore shows can deliver.
