James Madison will play against George Mason on Tuesday in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Championship tournament, scheduled for 7 p.m. at the JMU Soccer Complex.
George Mason relied on its win over Georgia State earlier in the season to earn the No. 6 seed in a tiebreaker. Both teams finished 4-6-1 in CAA competition, and the Patriots’ victory Oct. 7 gave them the last qualifying spot.
Madison’s conference record of 8-2-1 leaves the Dukes behind William & Mary (9-1-1) and Hofstra (9-2-0). A win against Virginia Commonwealth on Nov. 1 would have given
JMU the No. 1 seed in the CAA tournament and a bye in the first round. Instead, Madison must improve its 2007 home record to 12-0-0 to advance to the second round of the six-team tournament.
