California-based band playing in response to student interest

Say Anything, an indie rock band from Los Angeles, managed to squeeze in a show between playing in Colorado Springs and Hollywood to grace our campus with their presence. On Monday, Feb. 25, the six-member band will rock out in Wilson Hall Auditorium at 8 p.m.
Jenna Marie Cook, UPB’s vice president of marketing and communication, said UPB had surveyed JMU last semester and Say Anything was one of the top choices among students. Cook said UPB is expecting about 1,000 students to attend the show.
“We’ve heard a lot of good feedback from other places that they’ve performed for,” Cook said. “We’re expecting it to be pretty lively and interactive for the students.”
Sophomore Laura Starsiak said Say Anything is “an awesome band that has really raw, but truthful and often witty lyrics. Plus, the lead singer is quite the looker.”
Tickets went on sale two weeks ago, but are still being sold in the Warren Hall Box Office for $15 with a JAC Card, and $20 without one. Doors open at 7 p.m., but there is reserved seating.
Electric Baby, an 80 One record band, will be opening for Say Anything. JMU is one of the final stops before Say Anything headlines a national tour on March 13 to promote their recently released album, In Defense of the Genre.
