Spring Convo Show (feat. T-Pain)

If you’ve been wondering what that “(feat. T-Pain)” after so many songs on your iPod means, you can find out Friday night in the Convocation Center.

The Tallahassee, Fla., native, T-Pain, is on his way to Harrisonburg to shower adoring fans with his hot songs “Bartender,” “Buy U a Drank” [sic], and many others.

The University Program Board’s choice to host T-Pain at JMU was based on popular demand gauged by an electronic survey.

“We do a survey, and [it] was in a mass e-mail this year…T-Pain and Rihanna were the top two choices. Rihanna won two Grammy’s this year so her price range went up,” says Allison Beisler, UPB president.

It will cost a little less than $50,000 to bring T-Pain here, according to Beisler.

T-Pain has worked with today’s hottest musicians, from Kanye West to Virginia’s own Chris Brown.  He even won a Grammy for his collaboration with West on “Good Life.”

Opening for T-Pain is DJ Diplo, whose music harkens back to the classic hip-hop days of fast rhymes and fun beats.  He has remixed several popular songs by artists including Kanye West, Gwen Stefani and Justin Timberlake.

The show should run from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Convocation Center.

Tickets are still on sale, but they’re only available through the Warren Hall Box Office.  JAC Card holders get a maximum of two tickets at $24, all others, $28.
