Dukes bathe in first title victory

JMU head football coach Mickey Matthews gets soaked with Gatorade following the Dukes' 31-21 victory over the University of Montana to claim the Division 1-AA national championship title December 17 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

JMU approves $50.6 million RMH buy: The Board of Visitors unanimously approved a $50.6 million plan to purchase Rockingham Memorial Hospital’s campus adjacent to JMU at its meeting Jan. 7.	H'burg sponsors football parade :In celebration of the JMU and Harrisonburg High School football teams, a parade in downtown Harrisonburg will take place this Saturday at 2 p.m.
Sophomore class sells JMU unity wristbands : The Student Government Association passed two resolutions, sending condolences to a professor’s family and congratulating the football team.	Gas leak causes traffic backup : The Harrisonburg Fire Department responded to a call about a strong odor of gas at the JMU motor pool facilities on South Main Street at 5:07 p.m. Tuesday.


Celebration, parade demonstrate good will: When the State Normal and Industrial School for Women was founded in 1908, residents of Harrisonburg celebrated and welcomed the students and faculty into their town.	As semester begins, students see semester in different ways: The familiar landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains on a slightly breezy day was a refreshing start to a new semester for JMU students.


Dukes in competitive CAA hunt : The JMU women’s basketball team continued its success though late December and early January, bringing its overall record to 8-4.	Students channel entrepreneurial spirit with Mary Kay cosmetic sales: While some students work retail or at local restaurants to earn extra cash during the school year, some have delved into a different type of entrepreneurial undertaking.

Student finds valuable book in library : A book co-written by Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok was found having both authors’ signatures in Carrier Library this past November.
