Sex-crime suspect trial delayed

A suspect accused of entering the homes of 18 female JMU students will have a preliminary hearing in Rockingham County District Court Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. A judge then will decide whether to set a bond amount.

Arnold A. Adjetey, 23, of 1922 Sunchase, is being held in the Rockingham County Jail without bond until the hearing. Adjetey’s hearing originally was scheduled for Tuesday in district court.

The former Blue Ridge Community College and Bridgewater College student is charged with 18 felony counts of breaking and entering and two felony counts of sexual battery, according to court documents.

Early in 2000, Adjetey was charged and found guilty of misdemeanor indecent exposure. He was sentenced to a one-year suspended jail sentence, according to court documents.

In February of this year, Adjetey was charged with a second incident of indecent exposure, found guilty, fined $500 and given a one-year suspended sentence.

Local attorney Jim Dickson was appointed to represent Adjetey. Dickson declined to comment Wednesday.
