Man shot near campus

A 54-year-old man was shot and killed at his Harrisonburg residence last week.

The suspicious shooting of Bruce "Buddy" Nelson Jr. at 208 Governor’s Lane is being treated as a homicide by the Criminal Investigation Division, according to Harrisonburg Police.

The HPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the victim’s 1998 blue Ford Expedition. The vehicle has Virginia license plates reading XYU-1692.

Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to call the HPD at 434-2545. Information also will be taken through the Crime Solvers Tip Hotline at (540) 574-5050. All information given can be treated as confidential.
