Student Senate gives $4,000 to BluesTones

The Student Senate passed two finance contingency bills at the meeting on Tuesday.

A motion was made to un-table the bill from The BluesTones asking for $4,000. The motion passed and the bill was un-tabled. After a role call vote, the bill passed and The BluesTones received for the amount requested.

The money will be used to help cover the cost of mixing and mastering their next CD.

"We are elated with the outcome and we’re excited about producing the CD," said BluesTones president senior Brittany Sonnenberg. "Now that the bill passed, we’re definitely hoping the CD will come out next fall. We’re grateful to all the senators who supported us."

The Madison Investment Fund received $640 from contingency to send four executive members to the RISE Symposium, an investment competition in Dayton, Ohio.

Three new contingency bills were sent to the finance committee.

The Breakdance Club submitted a bill asking for $3,480 from contingency to the to cover the cost of renting Godwin Hall, advertisement, sound and any additional costs needed to put on Circles 6.

National honor fraternity Phi Sigma Pi proposed a bill asking for $440 from contingency to cover the cost of sending tsunami relief supplies and Teach For America supplies, conference supplies and name tags.

Business fraternity Pi Sigma Epsilon submitted a bill asking for $800 from contingency to cover the cost of sound, banners and advertisments for a Battle of the Bands from which all proceeds will go towards Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children.
