Tuition on the rise again: The Board of Visitors voted unanimously Friday to raise tuition for the 2005-’06 school year.
Running Club leads 5k: The JMU Running Club’s Tsunami 5k, held Saturday, raised $650 for tsunami victims in Southeast Asia.
Students silently preaching harmony: "Day of Silence" is a nationwide, student-led display of action to recognize the discrimination the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community faces on a daily basis.
SMAD moves across campus: After occupying the CISAT modular buildings for five years, the SMAD and SCOM departments will move to Harrison Hall on June 13.
BOV makes a major addition: The possibility of adding an environmental management major and the premiere of an Honor Code computer tutorial were among issues discussed at Board of Visitors’ Education and Student Life committee meeting Friday.




State attempts discriminatory law: On April 10, 2005, state lawmakers in West Virginia voted to pass a bill concerning the number of members a city can appoint to the boards of parks and recreation. Two days later they learned exactly what they had passed — a bill with an amendment to make English the official language of West Virginia. Break it down: In a night full of power moves _— like windmills, turtles, flares and air tracks — hip-hop, dancing and intense competition, breaker crews from coast to coast battled it out for a $2,500 grand prize Saturday.
Tribe outslugs Dukes: JMU’s win stead snapped at five games in a row. Dance delights: JMU students in the dance program have been recognized for their choreography and performances as two dance pieces were accepted into the gala at the American College Dance Festival.
