Gay marriage has no effect on population increase
Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor,
Following the logic in the "From the Wire" column by
Sean Trobaugh in the April 26 issue of The Breeze which stated that
homosexuals should not be allowed the benefit of marriage because
they tend not to "fulfill their inherent responsibilities"
of procreation, we should not be allowing infertile people to get
married and we perhaps should also punish couples who fail to provide
the appropriate number of children. Whether or not gay couples can
get married will have no effect on the number "of potential
breeding adults," and certainly will have little effect on
heterosexuals' efforts to maintain or increase
the population.
