SGA appeal dropped

by Colleen Schorn / senior writer

At the Student Senate meeting, student body president-elect Wesli Spencer spoke regarding the elections.

"The reason I stand before you on this lovely day is because it is important for us as the organization representative of the student body to reconcile our internal differences in order to move forward, for the sake of our peers," Spencer said.

Spencer dropped his appeal made on the Election Commission’s decison saying, "As far as opinions regarding the actions of me and my campaign staff are concerned, yes, we made an unintentional mistake, we took responsibility for it, we complied with the reprimand of the Commission and we regret the accidental mistake," Spencer said. "Regardless, I stand by my campaign and my staff, I take full responsibility, and I apologize for any misunderstandings."

He reminded the SGA of their purpose as an organization and explained how they must all work together to achieve that purpose.

"I am personally committing, to you, to uphold our values and motivation as an organization because we have a responsibility to represent our peers who have elected us to these positions, to accommodate our guests who join us in Senate," Spencer said. "Last, but not least, to respect one another throughout the duration of the year; ultimately, because we are all people and we each deserve to be treated as such."
